Promoting Victoria's premier lake destination

Our Mission

Lake Eildon Tourism is dedicated to promoting the Lake Eildon region as Victoria's premier lake destination. We work to showcase the incredible natural beauty, diverse activities, and welcoming communities that make this region special.

Our goal is to provide visitors with comprehensive, accurate, and helpful information to plan their perfect Lake Eildon adventure—whether it's a weekend fishing trip, a family camping holiday, or a houseboat escape.

The Lake Eildon Region

Located just two hours north of Melbourne in Victoria's stunning High Country, Lake Eildon is one of Australia's most popular inland waterways. The lake boasts an impressive 515 kilometres of shoreline—more than the distance from Melbourne to Sydney—offering endless opportunities for exploration and adventure.

The region encompasses more than a dozen charming townships, each with its own unique character. From the lakeside town of Eildon and the historic gold-rush era streets of Alexandra to the alpine gateway of Mansfield and the scenic village of Marysville, visitors will discover welcoming communities, excellent dining, and authentic country hospitality.

Lake Eildon National Park and Fraser National Park protect thousands of hectares of pristine bushland surrounding the lake, providing habitat for native wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, and over 200 species of birds. The parks offer excellent bushwalking trails, scenic lookouts, and peaceful picnic areas.

Activities for Everyone

Whether you're seeking adventure on the water or prefer exploring on land, Lake Eildon has something for every visitor. The lake is renowned for world-class fishing with trophy trout, Murray cod, and golden perch attracting anglers from across Australia. Houseboating holidays offer a unique way to experience the lake, while waterskiing, wakeboarding, and jet skiing provide thrilling water sports action.

On land, the region offers exceptional bushwalking at Cathedral Range State Park, scenic waterfall walks, the 134km Great Victorian Rail Trail for cycling, and challenging 4WD tracks through the Victorian High Country. In winter, nearby Mount Buller and Lake Mountain provide skiing and snow play just a short drive away.
